Woza Wanderer: Early Childhood Education & Antique World ...

11.05.11. Eleven weeks after the 22 Feb, 6.3 magnitude Christchurch quake, I wandered Peterborough St, recently escaped from the strangling CBD red zone, quarded by cops & soldiers at intersection cordons. Peterborough St was blitzed by the quake - road, houses & businesses. Extreme damage & danger everywhere. (See previous blog post: Blitzed Peterborough St).

Opposite Christchurch Casino, cnr Peterborough St & Victoria St, I came upon a fence cordoned demolition in progress: Early Childhood Education & Antique World bldg was gouged by a digger, debris festooned the wound & workmen in the bldg chucked debris onto a rubble pile below, stationery fluttering about. A copper salvage pile was on Victoria St side.
