Connecting With Kids | Kristi Bernard

If you write books for kids then it might be a good idea to hang out with them and get to know them. Kids are just little people expressing themselves very vocally on a daily basis. They?re not afraid to tell you what they like and don?t like. They are eager to learn more about the world and as a writer it?s up to you to help them.

If you?re new to writing for kids or are considering it, there are a lot of great sites out there that can help you get started. One I came across is F1srt Pages. This is a site geared for helping unpublished and published authors of books for kids. Eileen Robinson was an executive editor for Scholastic and created F1rst Pages to help writers get through the process.

If you are ready to learn more about the world of publishing and want to know what agents are looking for please stop by F1rst Pages and check out this wonderful site.

Happy Reading & Writing!

I am a parent and a writer. Reading is important and I encourage parents and children to pick up a book whenever possible. I graduated from Wichita State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English, with minors in Education and Minority Studies. I write fiction and nonfiction books for children. I book review for Tiger Tales Books, BookPleasures.com and Childrens Literature Comprehensive Database. I am a parenting expert for Bizymoms.com in which I provide insigtful articles on parenting and family life. I also love the art of the interview and create posts that capture the essence of human kind as well as provide important and helpful information to the reader. To help me achieve my goal of becoming a better writer I am a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), the Association of Children's Authors and Illustrators of Color (ACAIC), the Kansas City Writers Meetup Group and I am currently enrolled in The Institute of Children's Literature.
