Repurpose a Fabric-Covered Mouse Pad as a Trivet [Video]

Repurpose a Fabric-Covered Mouse Pad as a Trivet If you have an old mouse pad you're thinking about tossing culinary weblog Chow gives three suggestions on how to repurpose the pad as a jar opener, as beverage coasters, or as a trivet.

Gina long ago covered using a mouse pad as a jar opener and I'm not sure the neoprene will absorb moisture well enough for use as a coaster, but I definitely have a couple of old fabric-covered mousepads that i'll keep on hand for extra trivets. Make sure to only put hot dishes and pots on fabric-covered mousepads as you don't want your nice pans or serving dishes covered with burnt neoprene.
