June 4^th is right around the corner. That?s a special day for cat people ? it?s Hug Your Cat Day.? If you don?t have a cat to hug, then you?re in luck because June is ?Adopt-a-Shelter Cat Month?.

Here are some tips to keep in mind if you?re thinking of adopting a cat:

Now, let?s talk catnip??.Recently we had a Facebook contest inviting people to share their favorite stories about catnip and their cats. We had two winners, each winning a $10 Chuck & Don?s Gift Card. ?Enjoy their stories! ?;-)

?I just rescued an abandoned cat named Senya. She just weaned a litter of two kittens about a week before she came here. I gave her a small (2? long) catnip toy shaped like a duck, and I believe she thinks it?s a baby. She doesn?t ever bat the toy around or chew on it, she just tenderly cleans and snuggles with it. She loves the catnip spray I put on her cat tree and cardboard scratcher, so I know she?s affected by catnip. She just loves her baby duckie!?

?When I bought my house, i was thrilled to find out that there was catnip growing wild in the yard. I picked it?all of it?one September day and started dehydrating it in the oven. Three hours later I had a QUART of dried powdered catnip, a film of catnip oil on every surface in my house, and two cats who were literally running into walls for three days. It?s been four years and I?m still not out of that first quart.?
