On November 3rd and 4th 2012, I had the pleasure of attending the third Australian food blogging conference,?Eat Drink Blog,?which was held in my hometown of Adelaide. I was one of 80 lucky Australian food bloggers who were selected to attend the fun and food filled conference. Our third event of the day was a South American fiesta themed dinner at the Hilton Hotel, smack bang in the middle of Adelaide.
The pool deck of the Hilton was made 'food bloggers only' for the night. The deck looked fantastic; white tables and chairs, colourful table runners and fairy lights. Everyone loves fairy lights, right? :)
The menu for the night was put together by Executive Chef of the Adelaide Hilton Hotel, Dennis Leslie. He told us that he believes this style of eating will be the next big thing. Although he has never?traveled?to South America, he one day hopes to visit and go on FOOD SAFARI! That sounds like my kind of safari. He also has his own food blog.
The menu was as follows:
My food selections for the night
Dennis Leslie preparing some meat with his team
The wonderful spread
There was so much food. I was concerned about what would happen to all the leftovers. Well, anything that can be donated to a charity was vaccum packed, frozen and then given the opportunity to be turned into a delicious meal for a local charity. Any food that was not safe to be passed onto a charity, was placed into special bins, collected and turned into compost.?
So full from all the food, it was dessert time. There was a chocolate fountain and I managed to make some room for a taste. I tell you though, I was so full. It was hard to move!
I attempted to take a photo of the grand chocolate fountain only to incur every food blogger's worst nightmare....
FLAT BATTERY!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH *breathe* HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Luckily, Simon from Simon Food Favourites has been kind enough to allow all delegates, sponsors, committe and presenters to use his photos:) Simon took so many photos and they're up on his Facebook page if you would like to have a squiz.Chocolate fountain. A work of art
Awards were also presented for winners of the photography and writing competitions. I wish I could learn to take photos like those who won the?photography?competition. One day...one day...It was a wonderful evening of food, fun and new friends. Thank you to all who made it possible. We all had a fabulous time and will always remember the experience.
