It might have taken quite a while, but the LG Optimus 2X is finally receiving the long-awaited Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. The world?s first dual-core handset can officially be updated to the more than a year old software via LG?s Update Utility.
In all likelihood, this will be the Optimus 2X?s last software update ? unless Ice Cream Sandwich on the device turns out to be very buggy. Still, we have to hand it to LG for getting the update out for the device, especially when the company has moved on to much bigger and better things like the Optimus G and Nexus 4.
Ice Cream Sandwich on the Optimus 2X will give access to the latest Google applications, along with all of the features that Android 4.0 brings along with it. While Jelly Bean is much nicer than Ice Cream Sandwich, it is an incremental update, and in the grand scheme of things, users should just be glad that they aren?t on?Gingerbread?any longer.
If you?re still holding on to the Optimus 2X, make sure you get your update on now!
