MetroWest Golf Club in Orlando, one of Florida?s top public courses, will is undergoing a $1.5 million renovation that is scheduled to be complete in November. The Robrt Trent Jones, S., dsigned layout, managed by Marriott Golf, is located only 10 minutes away from Universal Studios and less than 30 minutes from Walt Disney World.
"); }While the course is closed, the facility?s popular practice facility will remain open, as will the golf shop, restaurants and special events venues at the facility.
?We are very excited to undertake this course renovation project at MetroWest and further enhance what has long been considered an unmatched Orlando golfing experience,? said MetroWest General Manager Steve Schaller. ?This renovation will not only be well received by better players, but it addresses two significant golfer demands that have been outlined by the USGA and The PGA of America, which is pace of play and the overall playability of today?s golf course layouts.?
Under the direction of Billy Fuller Golf Design of Atlanta, Ga., the project includes the resurfacing of all greens with TifEagle turf Bermuda grass that provides players with better putting conditions, as well as bunker renovations. Additionally, each of the tee boxes will be laser leveled and resurfaced, and the practice facilities will be expanded with a new teeing area.
MetroWest plays more than 7,000 yards (par 72) from the tips and features spring-fed lakes, mature native trees, expansive rolling fairways with dramatic elevation changes (by Central Florida standards) and large, undulating greens.
